How long are your Auckland Guided Wilderness Walks (Hiking Tours)?
|
Our Half Day Tours are 4 hours (9:00 to 13:00 or 13:00 to 17:00);
Our Full Day Tours are 8 hours (9:00 to 17:00);
Our Overnight Tours are 2 full days.

What do I need to bring on the Guided Wilderness Walks?
|
For all our tours please bring clothes suitable for the changing NZ weather conditions on the day. We recommend in addition:
- A rain jacket and spare clothes to change into in case you get wet;
- A sunhat (or warm hat in winter), sunscreen and sunglasses
- Your camera with LOTS of battery and memory space!
- Good walking shoes or hiking boots
- For Overnight/Multi-Day Tours, bring a sleeping bag and outdoor mattress. We can supply you with a mattress if required.
- A smile!

We provide everything for your tour including all transport from and to your accommodation in Auckland city, lunch (full & overnight tours), snacks and hot/cold drinks. We also supply you with umbrellas in case it rains.

|
We provide everything for your tour incl all transport from and to your accommodation in Auckland city, lunch (full & overnight tours), snacks, hot/cold drinks. We also supply you with all safety equipment as required for each tour. This includes for example extensive safety equipment such as marine radios, flares and Personal Locator Beacons to maximise our safety in all situations.

Full Day Auckland Walking Tours cost NZ$245 per person.
Our Overnight Tours start at 10am on day 1 and we return around lunchtime on day 2.

What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?
|
Our Auckland Guided Wilderness Walks are only affected by the weather in exceptional circumstances and operate all year around. Please take raingear in case of bad weather. Should it rain we also have umbrellas on board our vehicles. If for any reason we deem the weather to be unsuitable (a bit of rain is not such a reason), then we may cancel a tour and give you the choice between a full refund and postponement of a tour to another day.

What if I am on my own?
|
Unlike many other guided tours, we don’t exclude you if you are alone. We are happy to take bookings from one person but may have minimum numbers for a tour to go ahead. Please ask us and we will be happy to help!

What is your guide to client ratio?

We pride ourselves in offering small and very personal tour experiences . Our guide to client ratio is usually max 1 to 10 and in many cases it's even less at 1 to 6 guests. This is to keep it all really personal and also for safety reasons. In any case, we ensure that we offer highly personal tours that create lasting great memories.

Where do you go?

Auckland Guided Wilderness Walks: These take place for both our half day and full day tours in the Waitakere Ranges west of Auckland, famous for its rainforest, cliffs and black sand beaches that have been extensively used in movies, such as the Academy Award-winning movie “The Piano”. We do recommend our Full Day Guided Wilderness Walks, since here we are able to show you a lot more of this stunning environment. However, if short of time we can also give you a great taste on our half day Guided Wilderness Walks.
